Currently, the implementation website introduces each priority action, its goals, and achievements to date. The 16 priority actions in 2017 include topics such as solutions forum for labour rights; Indigenous engagement; controlled wood strategy; and supply chain integrity.
Initially, the platform will carry news only covering the 2017 priorities. From 2018 onwards, it will include updates on progress and impacts of the entire implementation plan.
The implementation plan is one of the major outcomes of the 2014 FSC general assembly, where a need for a clear strategy was realized, if FSC were to meet their ambitious targets. Outlined in The Global Strategic Plan, these targets include increasing the FSC share of global forest-based trade to 20 per cent by 2020.
The implementation plan draws on input from FSC staff, to turn the vision – defined by FSC’s board on the mandate of the membership in The Global Strategic Plan - into operational reality. It explains the necessary steps that need to be taken to meet our goals and change the way decisions are made and information is shared.
