The standard has been developed by a chamber-balanced Standards Development Group using multi-stakeholder process, which included two public consultations. All Certification Bodies providing FSC FM certification in the country were involved in the standard development process. Two field tests were conducted; one in a corporate forest in Hokkaido (North Japan) and the other in group certified forest (cooperative) in West Japan. This new standard applies to all forest types. It will play an essential role for further promotion of FSC certification in the country.
