Are encouraged to apply for a four-year term in the policy and standards committee (PSC). Application deadline is 30 June 2018. Positions start on 1 October 2018.
The PSC is a six-person group of advisors to the FSC Board of Directors on a wide range of issues including the approval of new and revised FSC policies, and national forest stewardship standards. For a complete description, please read the terms of reference.
Members of the FSC Board of Directors, FSC staff and FSC accredited certification bodies are not eligible to apply. Ideal applicants must demonstrate the following:
- current individual member status or current representative of an FSC member organization (candidates applying on behalf of an organization are required to also attach a letter of consent from their organization’s management);
- a firm commitment to attend all scheduled in-person meetings, including during 8-10 October in Portugal; and December 10-16 in Bali;
- experience with standard-setting processes and knowledge of accreditation or certification systems.
- ability to speak English fluently (good command of Spanish is a plus);
- experience in voluntary standards compliance assessment.
FSC pays members a small annual honorarium. All travel costs associated with the project will be covered. Applicants fitting this profile are asked to send their CVs, a one-page letter of interests that explicitly states how previous experience can be immediately transferrable to the needs of the PSC, and a letter of support from at least two (2) members in the represented sub-chamber. If you’re representing an organization, please also include a letter of support.
Please download the application form and send it to policy.standards@fsc.org by 30 June 2018.
